Since 1989, expectant women and families have successfully had the birth experiences they desire with my assistance.

Whether in a hospital, birth center, or at your home in Sarasota or Charlotte County in Florida, as your doula I can help you have the birth experience YOU desire.  Feel free to give me a call.  I would love to hear all about your dreams for your baby’s birth. 

In preparation for your birthing day, as my client you will receive free childbirth preparation classes so you are fully equipped to make informed decisions concerning labor and delivery and the care of your newborn. 

If you would like to hear from other families I have served throughout the years, let me know.  I have a long list of people with great memories of their births who would be very glad to tell you their story and about my role in helping them. 

In addition to being a certified doula, I am fulfilling a dream to improve maternity care and birthing all around the world as Executive Director of Charis Childbirth, an international school of midwifery with an emphasis on Christian missions and humanitarian work that also offers certification for childbirth educators and doulas.

Serving southwest Ga., I'm a homebirth midwife who is waiting for the regulations to change so I can practice again. Until then, I teach Christian childbirth classes (God designed the birthing process); do doula work (women were designed to birth and God did not give us a spirit of fear); and am a lactation counselor (women's breasts were designed by God to feed our babies).  I've been serving women in birth since the late 80s and serve them in and out of the hospital.

I am a certified labor and childbirth doula, who strives to serve pregnant and laboring women while glorifying Jesus Christ, the Author of Life.  I have been blessed by God to have had three births of my own, an emergency c-section in 1997 (45 minute labor with a double footling baby on his way out), a VBAC with an epidural to get me through intense back labor (2000), and an all-natural doula-assisted birth (2005).  Each birth was a tremendous time of knowing the sufficiency of my Savior, and of preparing me to help other women through their labors and deliveries.

I have been attending births since 1993, and have helped at hospital, birth center, and home births, as well as twin births, c-sections, medically managed births, and no-intervention births.

I am certified through Cascade Christian Childbirth Association in the last year. I have been attending births for over 15 years. I am a student midwife, studying to be a Certified Professional Midwife through NARM Apprentice model of becoming a midwife. I attend mostly home births but will be glad to help women achieve their best hospital birth/birth center possible through education and encouragement and service. I believe birth is a God-given design that we should embrace and trust to the utmost highest level. I believe that education is key – erasing fear, trusting the process and understanding the phase of womanhood called our maternity or childbearing years. I am founder of Blessing God’s Way – a ministry that equips women to embrace their cycles and phases of womanhood from a biblical perspective. I have created curriculum for young ladies and mothers called, Maidens by His Design, and have written a book called, Celebration of Pregnancy. I have a mentoring program that teaches women how to serve women in our cycles of life… I also have other projects going like a new book and other curriculum so check the website often!

24 Hour On-Call Availability
~From your 38th week to delivery
~Available by phone during the day and by e-mail for routine questions
~Call any time 24 hours a day when you think you are in labor
~Available at any hour to meet you once you are in labor and need me

Support Throughout Labor and Birth
~Provide support in early labor, in the setting of your choosing (home, birth center, hospital, etc.)
~for activities or positions to help labor progress
~Help to decide when to go to the hospital/birth center
~Help with breathing and relaxation techniques
~Massage and acupressure for relaxation
~Suggest labor positions and comfort measures
~Lots of encouragement and reassurance
~Support for the woman's partner
~Encourage nutrition and fluids in early labor (for both you and your partner)
~Help for partner to be of best support to birthing mother
~Help the environment be one in which the woman feels secure and confident
~Provide information or explanation of medical and birth options during labor
~Work cooperatively with the health care team
~Take pictures or videos if desired, on my digital or your camera(s)
~Assist with establishing initial breastfeeding

Postpartum Visit
It is the mother's choice whether to have this visit or not.

I am currently taking courses to become a doula in my area, as well as a childbirth educator and breastfeeding counselor through Childbirth International.  I am a Christian woman, wife, and mother of two wonderful children.  I love assisting mothers throughout their pregnancy and childbirth.  Since I am in training, I am offering my services for free at this time.  Donations are welcome to support my education.
